Cloud-accessible is not browser-native
Most platforms describe themselves as cloud-based. What that usually means: data is in the cloud, but reading still needs a desktop app, a VPN, or a plugin. NewLumen runs entirely in the browser.
What browser-native means in numbers
The full toolset, in the browser
Browser-native does not mean basic. Scroll, pan, zoom, and window/level with keyboard shortcuts or mouse. Built-in presets: lung (1599/−550), soft tissue (399/40). Length, angle, ellipse, rectangle, freehand ROI, probe, and arrow tools, all persisting with the study.
MPR and 3D are first-class layout modes, not add-ons. Multi-monitor mode runs via the Window Management API in Chrome and Edge. Cine playback for CT and MR. Echo cineloop for ultrasound.
Species-aware from the start
Open a canine chest study and the viewer applies the Canine Chest 3-View protocol automatically. Canine and feline protocols are available without configuration. Reporting macros are species-tagged too, so the relevant macro is one shortcut away when you start a report.
What no install actually means
No software to deploy to workstations. No IT cycle before a new radiologist can read. No maintenance window for version updates. No VPN for remote reads. A new radiologist opens a browser, logs in, and starts reading.
